Stowe Mountain Lodge in Vermont

Stowe Mountain Lodge in Vermont

You can get away from winter, or you can embrace it and take advantage of the fluffy white stuff. We’re up for either and think it’s a good mix to do a little winter escape and a little ski-inspired vacation too. Here are our top 5 ski destinations.

Mont Tremblant, Quebec

One of Canada’s premier ski destinations has to be Mont Tremblant. Just an hour and a half outside of Montreal is this luxe ski destination with 95 runs surrounded by stunning Quebec countryside. It’s an easy escape from any of Canada’s eastern cities.

Stowe, Vermont
Charming and quaint, the town of Stowe has some of the best skiing available on the eastern coast of the States. Mount Mansfield is where you’ll want to hit the slopes and you can test your skills at skiing or snowboarding.

Chamonix, France

Chamonix, France

Chamonix, France
Who wouldn’t want to go to the French Alps? Not only does it mean a trip to France, but the Alps are so stunning they almost don’t look real. In the tiny town of Chamonix (you can take the train or a bus from Geneva), ski pros come in flocks to get a chance to ski on the pristine slopes. Looking for something even more adventurous? Try hand gliding from atop a snow-covered mountain.

Park City, Utah
The A-list from Hollywood hit this town not only for the Sundance Film Festival, but also for a relaxing, cold getaway from LA. The city is literally sprouting with new hotels, re-vamped spas and resorts, so after your morning ski run, you can massage away all the aches and pains and chill out in a luxe hotel suite.

Norway
Norway has numerous ski options — Lillehammer just north of Lake Mjøsa, Hemsedal in the Scandinavian Alps and Geilo in southern Norway. But for something a little different try the Jotunheimen Ski Resort for some of the best cross-country skiing trails (300 kilometers worth) in the country with spectacular views — there’s a reasons why the locals love this spot so much!
