On April 2, 2010, The Ritz-Carlton Los Angeles opened its doors, making it the first five-star caliber hotel in downtown L.A. The hotel marks the completion of the $2.5 billion L.A. LIVE sports, residential and entertainment district that includes restaurants like Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill and Katsuya, as well as Club Nokia and Lucky Strike Lanes & Lounge. The hotel features 123 guest rooms, including 14 suites. All of the interior decor was done by Barry Design, which boasts luxury clientele such as the Grand Wailea Spa in Hawaii and The One & Only Ocean Club, among many others.
Another highlight of the hotel is the 8,000 square foot, full-service luxurious spa, which offers nine treatment rooms, two customized aromatherapy steam rooms, cold plunge showers, and two relaxation lounges. Your spa experience can be completely personalized, as all of the treatment rooms have an iPod docking station, so you can opt for whatever music you want! The spa’s theme is “Champagne and Shimmer” (um, yes please!), which is highlighted from treatments like Glowing Gold Facial and Champagne and Citrus Scrub.
The 26th floor features a private rooftop and bar with spectacular views of downtown L.A and if you’re the type of traveller who likes to stay fit while on the road, the floor also features a 2,000 square foot fitness centre. It might be required after you have a decadent meal at Wolfgang Puck’s new restaurant in the hotel, WP24, located on the 24th floor of the hotel. With an Asian-influenced menu, the restaurant also offers incredible views thanks to the floor to ceiling windows. With stunning views and incredible amenities, this hotel definitely sounds like a destination for the L.A.-bound traveller.
