One item we’ve been obsessed with lately is the coloured pant. A great alternative to your traditional denim, it’s a statement look that translates very easily from day to night, making it a perfect item to pack on your next trip. It can however, be tricky to figure out how to style, which is why we’ve come up with 4 different looks for 4 coloured jeans.
Look #1:
Current/Elliott The Ankle low-rise skinny jeans, $200, net-a-porter.com.
If you can only commit to one coloured jean this season, make it a pastel shade, like this gorgeous lilac stretch version from Current/Elliot. With pastels, it’s best to keep within the same colour tones, so opt for lighter shades like baby blue, turquoise, pink or a no-fail hue like white.
+
Splendid striped jersey t-shirt, $68, net-a-porter.com.
Stripes can be a miss or hit with coloured denim, but we think this t-shirt works because the shades are muted and don’t overpower the pastel jeans. Wear in the day shopping or touring through an art gallery.
+
Christian Siriano for Payless women’s Anna cutout wedge bootie, $70, payless.com.
We’re crazy for Christian Siriano’s collection for Payless. Totally affordable and ultra fashion forward, these wedge booties are super hot and you’ll be able to wear them now and into the spring.
Look #2:
J. Crew toothpick jean in garmet-dyed twill, festival green, $108, jcrew.com.
A softer shade to the darker green we saw late last year, we love how comfy these jeans are thanks to the added stretch. This particular version comes in five shades, but we think the green hue is perfect for spring.
+
Topshop dropped back sleeveless shirt, $56, thebay.com.
We paired the green jeans with this pale blue shirt. If you choose too many bold colours you can quickly look like you’ve jumped out of an ’80s music video. Pair with a cute ballet flat, some gold bangles and you’re ready to start sightseeing!
+
Coach new poppy leather whipstitch crossbody, $178, coach.com.
Keeping with the softer shades, we thought the perfect addition to this look would be a tan bag. As we’ve said before, we love travelling with a cross-body bag, and this one is just big enough to fit your day essentials.
Look #3:
H&M trousers, red, $25, hm.com.
If you’re not one to splurge on trends, make your way into H&M. We spotted these red jeans and think they are a must. The great thing about red is it’s easier to style than you’d think, just stick to a monochromatic look, but if you aren’t afraid to try colour, we’re fans of pairing it with blue.
+
J. Crew Shafasa polk-dot silk shirt, $110, net-a-porter.com.
Wear in to the office, then pack it for your next city escape. Leave it untucked for a more casual look and throw on a cute pair of ankle booties to bring the whole look together.
+
Marc by Marc Jacobs Petal to the Metal voyage satchel, $498, piperlime.com.
We suggest pairing your red jeans with a simple black bag, like this travel-friendly one from Marc by Marc Jacobs. A detachable shoulder strap, which allows you to wear it cross-body or just simply on your forearm, it has plenty of space to fit all of your travel musts.
Look #4:
Rag & Bone slim fit zipper jean, cobalt, $242, rag-bone.com.
An easy transition into the coloured jean world, this cobalt blue version from Rag & Bone has tough luxe zipper details, which give it a bit more edge and interest. You can’t go wrong with anything black or white, like a biker jacket or soft tee.
+
Karl “Batya” wrap-effect crepe top, $215, net-a-porter.com.
We are crazy for Karl’s new collection and clearly are not the only ones, since tons of his pieces have are already sold-out. Try pairing the cobalt jeans with this monochromatic top for a cool, yet contemporary look.
+
Charles Albert obsidian arrowhead ring, $78, shopbop.com.
To complete this tough luxe look, we thought this black statement ring would be an excellent accessories choice. Beauty-wise, why not try a half-moon mani or sleek pony?
