Besides being a staple in our everyday makeup bag, liquid eyeliner is a travel beauty must. After a long flight we’ve definitely experienced pencil liner getting a bit smudgy — not pretty. Thankfully a really good liquid eyeliner will stay in put and there’s much less touching up upon arrival. Even better, the liquid eyeliner look has been spotted all over the Spring/Summer 2012 runways at shows like Jonathan Saunders, Frankie Morello, Ruffian and John Richmond. We’ve both tried our fair share and have come up with 8 of our favourites at price points to suit every budget.
1. Dior liquid eyeliner in Black, $34, sephora.com.
Part of what makes one liquid eyeliner better than the next is the tip and this one is no exception. The tip on this version is quite fine and is great for creating a thin line. We also love how long is lasts and the black is seriously black.
2. Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Gel Eyeliner in Stay Onyx, $22, esteelauder.com.
New from Estée Lauder this gel eyeliner stays put. You also don’t have to worry about any flaking or smudging and it already comes with a brush.
3. Stila Stay All Day waterproof liquid eye liner in black, $20, stilacosmetics.com.
Haven’t used a liquid eyeliner before? This is a great option for beginners since it’s basically foolproof. The tip is very thin and the liner stays put all day.
4. blinc Kiss Me Eyeliner in black, $24, ebeauty.ca.
Great for creating winged tips or thicker lines, the brush on this eyeliner takes a bit more of an expert hand. Thankfully this liner stays put, but comes off easily with water when the day is over.
5. M.A.C. Fluidline in Wholesome, $18, maccosmetics.com.
This eyeliner won’t budge even after a night of dancing. You could probably even swim with it on, but we haven’t tested it for that yet. While you’ll need to apply with a separate brush, it’s totally worth it.
6. Rimmel London Glam’eyes Professional Liquid Liner in Black Glamour, $7, rimmellondon.com.
Thankfully you don’t always have to spend a fortune to get a great liner. This one from Rimmell London has a great tip for applying and doesn’t smudge. Just be sure to let it dry before curling your lashes!
7. Revlon Colorstay Crème Gel Eye Liner in black, $11, revlon.ca.
Another great drug store option, this gel eyeliner wears all day. The brush is on the thicker side, so if you’re looking to draw a super thin line, try dipping another brush into the pot.
8. L’Oréal lineur intense brush tip liquid eyeliner in Carbon Black, $11, lorealparis.ca.
When you want to create a line with precision, this eyeliner is a great option. It takes a minute or so to dry, but when it does it stays put.
