On at the MET “Regarding Warhol: Sixty Artists, Fifty Years”

45 of Warhol's paintings, sculptures and film go on display.

Just last week in New York City, the Metropolitan Museum of Art opened their new exhibit entitled Regarding Warhol: Sixty Artists, Fifty Years. On until December 31, 2012, the exhibition aims to explore the influence Warhol had on contemporary art, through 45 works of art he created, including paintings, sculptures and films.

These works have been juxtaposed with 100 different pieces of work in multiple mediums created by other artists who have either reacted, reinterpreted or responded to his work in various ways and over multiple generations. Structured into five main thematic sections including, “Portraiture: Celebrity and Power,” which contains some of his most notable celebrity portraits including those of Jacqueline Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe.

Some of the other artists you can expect to see alongside Warhol include Jeff Koons, Richard Avedon, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Damien Hirst.
