Travel Must: Riding Boots

Travel Must: Riding Boots

We’re definitely about comfort and style when it comes to our travel fashion choices and this season (really every fall) the riding boot is our go-to. Whether you’re off for a shopping weekend in Chicago or discovering London, a pair of flat boots will get you through the day, so you can concentrate on enjoying your destination, versus dying to go back to the hotel to put your feet up (although that happens eventually no matter how comfortable your footwear is).

For destinations with chilly temps and rainy weather, boots are a travel must. We’re partial to the flat riding boot to keep comfort in check, plus it’s easier to navigate uneven terrain (like cobblestone streets or basic hiking trails). The riding boot is also a total classic, so whether you can only spend $100 or can splurge or a designer pair, it’s one of those items you’ll be able to pull out year-after-year. Looking to add a new pair to your wardrobe? We’ve found 6 with think you should consider.

1. Tory Burch Castila flat riding boot in almond, $495, toryburch.com
Leave it to Tory to create a perfectly polished riding boot, with gorgeous gold accents, leather straps and Tory’s signature logo medallion on the calf. Easy to wear with jeans, but dressy enough to wear with a skirt, these equestrian-style boots are no-fail fit for a travel wardrobe.

2. Topshop Prancer Croc riding boots in oxblood, $280, topshop.com
We recently shared our love of this rich shade of red (aka burgundy, oxblood, maroon, etc), which is why we instantly fell for this oxblood shade of leather riding boots from Topshop. Simple, yet structured, we love the gold ring detail around the calf. Not sure if this shade is versatile enough for your wardrobe? Trust us, it is.

3. Aldo Tawana boots in cognac, $200, aldoshoes.com
On the hunt for a pair of boots that are a little more casual than dressy? If so, we suggest this semi-slouchy riding boots from Aldo, which have the equestrian flair, but are a little less structured. Extremely comfortable around the calves, we can’t help by love the ankle strap detail too.

4. Ecco Saunter boots, $295, eccocanada.ca
If you’re worried the weather is going to wreck havoc on your boots, we suggest this sleek and sophisticated pair from Ecco. Hard leather soles prevent water from leaking through the bottoms, while the interior lining keeps your feet from getting too hot when you’ve been in them all day. We’re also fans of the calf buckle, which is adjustable to fit all leg  sizes.

5. Sam Edelman Penny riding boots in whiskey, $194, shopbop.com
A military take on the classic riding boot, we love the warm hue of these soft leather boots, which we can imagine pairing with our skinny jeans, leggings or sweater dress.

6. Burberry leather riding boots, $795, net-a-porter.com
Just like their trench coats, Burberry’s riding boots are another classic accessory synonymous with the brand’s aesthetic. If we were going to splurge, we have to say Burberry would most definitely top our list. In a dark brown leather, the buckled strap detail around the ankle adds just the right amount of embellishment to the boot.
