Luxury Coats to Love Now & Forever

With the chilly weather upon us, a cold weather coat is a wardrobe must, especially if you have to survive through a Canadian winter — brrr! Since we suffer for a good five months (give or take) of the year, our coats must be able to stand the test of time. We personally like to have a couple options to on hand, since we obviously can’t wear the same jacket when it’s -15 and we’re walking outside versus heading to a fancy dinner via cab. For the later occasion we think a luxury coat is your best bet. Besides the obvious style factor, it’s an investment piece you’ll love for years to come. Plus why not make your outerwear your statement? If it’s cold outside you might as well look fabulous!

MaxMara Manuel classic coat, $1,420, matchesfashion.com
A camel-hued cover-up is a must in any fashionable women’s wardrobe. A work-friendly piece, you can easily pop the collar to get a little warmer around the neck, while the waist tie helps give you a bit of shape.

Diane Von Furstenberg Sabrina coat, $940, matchesfashion.com
There’s nothing basic about this black DVF coat. Ultra-chic, we love the high-neck fur collar, which also happens to be detachable. Double-breasted, this cashmere-wool blend coat has a great waist tie to cinch the waist.

Freda shearing coat, $2,150, matchesfashion.com
Fur is the ultimate winter fabric. More of a statement than just a little fur trim, the shearling panels on the top half contrast nicely with the suede sleeves.

Balenciaga Le Corporate double-breasted coat, $1,580, matchesfashion.com
There’s nothing quite like wearing white in the winter — or in this case cream. A touch of Old Hollywood glamour, the cut is a touch on the masculine side, taking a cue from the boys never looked so good.

Giambattista Valli Linen-blend coat, $1,515, matchesfashion.com
Whoever said your winter coat should be neutral obviously didn’t see this stunner. The cocoon shade of the coat is a Valli signature and oh-so modern. While it’s on the lighter side (it’s a linen blend), you can definitely make a hop, skip and jump from home to your destination looking seriously chic.

Lanvin Tweed reverse collar coat, $2,805, matchesfashion.com
While tweed isn’t exactly freezing temps type of fabric, this coat can certainly do the above zero days when you’re not living outside, plus it will transition beautifully into the spring and be a staple come next fall. We love the Parisian flair of this coat, which will add an instant polish to any outfit.
