Without a doubt summer is the season for music festivals. The temps are hot, the sun out past eight and holiday long weekends galore. Near or far, there are no shortage of festivals to rock out to from now until Labour Day, so all you have to do is decide what festival to check out (hurry because many festivals are already selling out!). Read on to find out what’s happening and where.

Isle of Wight Festival
Where: Isle of Wight, England
When: June 13-16
Lineup Highlights: The Killers, Bon Jovi, The Stone Roses, Ellie Goulding, Blondie
Why you should go: Did we mention it’s on an island? Besides being scenic, it’s actually relatively easy to get to, plus the ferries run 24 hours during the festival weekend. For those planning to make it a weekend, there are separate camping grounds for Family and Students, plus Respect camping areas for those who want to keep the area clean and tidy during and after the event.

Bonnaroo
Where: Manchester, Tennessee
When: June 13-16
Lineup Highlights: Paul McCartney, Mumford & Sons, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Foster the People, Red Hot Chili Peppers
Why you should go: There’s more to enjoy than just the music at Bonnaroo. Between sets you can entertain yourself with comedy, movies, shopping and even water slides.

Glastonbury
Where: Glastonbury, England
When: June 26-30
Lineup Highlights: The Rolling Stones, Mumford & Sons, Arctic Monkeys, Vampire Weekend
Why you should go: Covering 900 acres of farmland, plan to pack your Wellies, as you’ll need them to trek through the mud as you go from stage to stage.

Wireless Festival
Where: Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London, England
When: July 12-14
Lineup Highlights: Justin Timberlake, Jay Z, Snoop Dog, Will.I.Am, Frank Ocean, Calvin Harris
Why you should go: Last year’s Olympic Park has been transformed to a music venue and this is the first time this festival will be held in this location (previously it was in Hyde Park). There are four stages to be found, meaning they’ll be something good to listen to at any given time.

NXNE
Where: Toronto, Canada
When: June 10-16
Lineup Highlights: Ludacris, Billy Talent, The National
Why you should go: In its 19th year, NXNE is an indie scene where you’ll find more than just 1000 different bands playing throughout venues across the city, but you’ll also find film, art, comedy and an interactive element to the week too. So while there’s no camping or slushing through mud, you’ll certainly be able to get your culture fix.

Quebec City Summer Festival
Where: Quebec City, Canada
When: July 4-14
Lineup Highlights: Stevie Wonder, Bruno Mars, The Black Keys, Weezer, Wu-Tang Clan, Def Leppard, The Sheepdogs, MGMT
Why you should go: The entire city lets loose for their major 11-day festival, with three main stages spread out around Old Quebec, the Port and the Saint-Roch district.

Newport Folk Festival
Where: Newport, Rhode Island
When: July 26-28
Lineup Highlights: Beck, Feist, The Avett Brothers, Of Monsters and Men, The Lumineers
Why you should go: It’s hard to believe, but this festival has been around since 1959! The vibes are more chill here and with an attendance cap of 10,000 it’s not mega-packed. Plus you can’t beat the scenic harbour-side venue.

Lollapalooza
Where: Grant Park, Chicago, Illinois
When: August 2-4
Lineup Highlights: The Killers, The Cure, Mumford & Sons, Vampire Weekend, The Postal Service
Why you should go: Adjacent to Lake Michigan, the festival covers a full 115 acres of park with multiple stages, food stations and activities non-music related, including Green Street where you can do eco-friendly shopping and snack on bites from various Farmers Markets. The music ends at 10pm, so be sure to make plans post-concert.

Osheaga
Where: Park Jean-Drapeau, Montreal, Canada
When: August 2-4
Lineup Highlights: The Cure, Mumford & Sons, Phoenix, Beck, Vampire Weekend, Frank Ocean, Tegan & Sara
Why you should go: Montreal reputation for its party scene is legit, with alcohol being served until 3 a.m., so when the music stops finding fun will be no problem. Music-wise there are two main stages to watch your favourite performers, but take note there isn’t overlap, so you’ll have to make the hard choice of deciding where to camp out.

Outside Lands
Where: Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, California
When: August 9-11
Lineup Highlights: Paul McCartney, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Vampire Weekend, Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Why you should go: Touting themselves as the “world’s only gourmet music festival,” you should definitely come with or plan to build up an appetite, considering you’ll find more than 200 food and drink options from carnival-inspired bites to Korean tacos, not to mention a wine tent. Note that there’s no camping on-site, plus parking near the area is pretty much impossible, so plan for alternative transportation. One thing that is a life-saver? Score a onsite rental locker so you can rock out without worrying about your belongings.
