His red soles may be his trademark, but there’s more to famed French shoe designer Christian Louboutin who debuts a retrospective of his 20-year career at Toronto’s Design Exchange. From June 21 until September 15, the exhibition will chronicle the designer’s illustrious work over the past two decades, showcasing his a selection of some of his most memorable works, including metallic studded heels, gorgeous lace-ups and fur-dipped delicacies, totally more than 250 pair of shoes and personal artifacts.

Other highlights of the exhibit is being able to see a step-by-step process of how he creates his spider boot, seeing it from a real-life scaled replication of his atelier in Paris, as well as pieces he created for the 2007 “Fetish” exhibition produced in collaboration with filmmaker David Lynch.

This will be the first stop on Louboutin’s North American tour, having already earned record attendance at the Design Museum in London. The exhibition is open Sunday to Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Adult admission is $22.
