Chicago is known for its amazing restaurants, comfort food and jazzy clubs. When we visited we were eager to sample some of the local food and atmosphere and when we heard about Bin 36 — a wine and cheese bar/resto we had to go. What could be more comforting than a glass of vino and a selection of cheeses? Bin 36 is as relaxed and laid-back as the city itself. People were dressed from cas-cool to business suits and heels, so it’s a spot that just about anyone can enjoy.
While the locals dined at the restaurant, we sampled some amazing wines and cheeses at the cheese bar. You can pick from a huge list of wine flights (four different wines in 2.5 oz samples), or just your fave vino by the glass, and over 50 kinds of cheese. We picked a bubbly flight of sparkling wines that ranged from fruity, to dry and crisp, but you can test out Australian reds, Italian whites, or California’s best, plus many more. Our bubbly was perfect to pair with nutty, sharp cheeses and smooth, creamy, pungent cheeses. Just ask the cheese connoisseur at the bar to help you make the best selections with your pairing. By the way, their hummus and pita is also incredible. It’s the perfect pre-dinner option in Chicago before heading off for the night — just don’t eat too much cheese!
