When it comes to high style in films, the Bond series has a major glamour factor. Between 007’s sexy suits, high tech gadgets and fashionable leading ladies, this iconic movie brand oozes style. To mark this franchise’s 50-year anniversary, The Barbican in London is showcasing a retrospective entitled Designing 007: Fifty Years of Bond Style, starting with 1962’s Dr. No all the way to this year’s Skyfall.
The exhibition will explore the craft behind the screen icons from the villains to the costumes and sets, as well as special effects, stunts and props.
Other highlights include the gadgets and weapons made for Bond, as well as the artwork for the sets and the costume designs. Pieces from major fashion designers and Hollywood costume designers will also be on display too, from such names as Giorgio Armani, Tom Ford, Oscar de la Renta, Philip Treacy and Miuccia Prada.
The exhibition runs from July 6 – September 5, 2012 and is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. (Thurs until 10 p.m.). Tickets cost £12 and advanced booking is strongly recommended. In fact, you can purchase your tickets online now.
Planning to be in London this summer? We think this exhibit is definitely worth checking out.
