Metallic is a trend we definitely didn’t mind seeing on the Fall 2012 runways. At Ralph Lauren, golds appeared on knits, piping on blazers, and brocade embroideries, while Midas touched upon the model’s toe caps and brocade patterned suits at Marni. We also spotted the trend at Prabal Gurung, Elie Saab, Tracy Reese and Barbara Bui, to name just a few. Our favourite way to incorporate this trend into your fall wardrobe is with a metallic pattern, but we also think gold or silver accessories can add a luxe touch perfect for the office or after five.
1. Preen Eva metallic cotton-blend and lace skirt, $1,030, net-a-porter.com.
This pencil skirt combines two major trends for fall — metallic and lace. Chic and feminine, it’s a perfect option for the office paired with a simple white button up or a brocade patterned top.
2. Zara jacquard loom trousers, $80, zara.com.
If you’re going to pick up any style of trousers this fall, make it ankle cropped ones. Seen all over the Fall 2012 runways, we love that this pair incorporates the metallic and print trend so beautifully.
3. H&M silver loafers, $60, hm.com.
A dressy loafer? We think so! While we usually see silver shoes in the sandal department, we’re really loving them in a loafer style. Try pairing them with a black leather skirt, lace straight leg pants or even a cute printed dress.
4. French Connection Galaxy crepe pipe detail top, $118, canada.frenchconnection.com.
Go for instant sparkle with a simple metallic top that’s easy to wear. We suggest wearing with anything from a pair of black skinny pants to a dark wash jean.
5. Clare Vivier foldover clutch, $185, shopbop.com.
Add a burst of glamour to your going-out look with a metallic clutch. The great thing about a folder over clutch like this one is it’s spacious, meaning you can fit your evening essentials in it.
6. Mango glitter leather gloves, $50, shop.mango.com.
We know it seems early to start talking gloves, but it is mid-August and before you know you’re going to be digging through your closet for a pair. Trade up your basic black this season and try a metallic pair for a touch of luxe.
