Already shown in Paris, London, Shanghai, Berlin and New York, the travelling exhibition Lingerie Francaise has made its way to Toronto’s Design Exchange. On display for free until October 13, the retrospective, curated by Catherine Ormen, showcases 100 years of French lingerie, featuring pieces ranging from ancient corsets and bras to modern lingerie designed for both function and aesthetic.
A total of 11 renowned French lingerie manufacturers, including Chantelle, Lise Charmel, Lou and Simone Perele opened their vaults to allow these treasures to go on display.
In addition to the historical pieces, the exhibition features videos and pictures including a life-sized hologram dubbed a “Trans-Historical Striptease” that illustrates the development of lingerie and how it relates to a woman’s silhouette and body language.
Completely fascinating, you definitely don’t want to miss out on this free exhibition.
