Change is never easy, but for Deanne Moser, taking the leap from an impressive career in PR to launching her own art consulting business, was a natural transition. “I represent artists and sell amazing paintings to cool people,” explains Deanne. “I LOVE seeing the artists in their studios, learning about the process and then connecting that with someone who gets the story.”

In her previous career Deanne worked extensively in the fashion world, frequently travelling to New York, and working in-house at top-named brands including Pink Tartan and Romona Keveza. It’s not hard to see she has a stylistic eye honed during her years in fashion either. She has amazing taste and a enviable wardrobe to boot. But even more endearing, is her cheerful disposition.

When it comes to travel, Deanne always has a trip booked, even if it’s just a quick jaunt to New York or Miami. With her eye for design and covetable style, she shares with us some of the coolest spots to book right now, airplane outfits that are comfortable but fashion-friendly and the best hair products to travel with.

Why are you always travelling? Work, personal, both?

I need to travel. There is something inside my soul that always wants to escape. Travel is the best education, the best way to learn about yourself and others. I go to New York about once a month and now to Miami and Havana.

What’s your carry-on bag?

I’m actually looking for a new carry on. What I have is a Longchamp Le Pliage in black. It’s easy. But what I want is a large Goyard Saint Louis — monogramed.

What are the top 3 essentials you put in your carry-on?

Kiehl’s Ultimate Hand Salve, Fiji Water – the biggest size I can get, and sunglasses — Celine Baby Audrey’s or you can’t go wrong with the classic Ray Ban Wayfarer.

Travel app you can’t leave home without?

Uber. I think it’s the best/quickest way to get a car when you don’t have local currency.

How do you kill time waiting for your flight/during a layover?

I don’t arrive too early but when I do I might get a coffee or glass of wine. Depending on the airport shopping is always an option. Incheon has some amazing stores that make killing time easy.

Favourite hotel?

This is tough! There are so many good ones right now! Where to start: New York — The Nomad or The Marlton or The Mark… those black and white floors are like stepping into another era.  I love the Ace properties including their cheap and cheerful Freehand properties in Chicago or Miami. I recently stayed at The Bale in Bali and it was beyond heavenly. A private pool outside your bamboo bathroom… ya that was pretty legit. I considered a long-term stay.

Hotel amenity you can’t live without?

I love a good restaurant and lounge.

Best meal on your last trip/ever. Where and what did you have?

I can’t give you just one. There are way too many good options!! Try Pubbelly in Miami, generally any of the Jean-Georges restaurants, Thomas Keller’s fried chicken is outstanding, Las Vegas has some outstanding places like Raku. Montreal’s Au Pied de Cochon and Milos are some great choices. At salt-crusted branzino will get me every time.

Current travel reading material?

I just picked up Girl on a Train by Paula Hawkins which I’m excited to read. Others are Edie: An American Biography, by Jean Stein and Cat’s Eye by Margaret Atwood.

Travel music playlist?

Right now I’m listening to Stevie Wonder, Elle King, Neil Young, The Beatles, East of Avenue, Leon Bridges, Ryan Adams, Otis Redding and everything in between.

Favourite travel-friendly beauty product?

Kevin Murphy hair products are easy to travel with and tend not to explode which is a plus.

Window or aisle?

Always aisle. I hate asking people to get out of their seats for me.

Tell us what your airplane style is.

My airport style tends to be oversized, boy-like and a mixture of neutral colours. I love a distressed cropped boyfriend jean – these ones from Joe Fresh are super cute and on sale. I’m loving Kit and Ace with their technical cashmere. All of their stuff is perfect for long flights and super comfortable. I like to layer and this tank has been with me around the world. I’m very much a stripe girl and either Saint James or PLAY Comme des Garcon long sleeve tops are easy and comfy. I like a cocoon coat that is soft and warm. It also serves as a fashionable snuggie if needed. I like a cool sneaker or a chelsea boot. An easy walking shoe is practical for after the flight which is helpful when packing.

Most memorable souvenir?

Several Cuban paintings from my last trip to Havana. The story behind them is almost as good as the art.

Where was your last vacation and who did you travel with?

Miami with a bunch of my girlfriends for a bachelorette. We spent a lot of time in the Wynwood ‘hood, at places like Gramps.

What was the best thing you did on your last vacation?

The best thing I did was travel to Asia with my mother. It was so amazing to connect with her on so many different levels and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Dream destination?

Hopefully Morocco and Uganda before the end of the year.
