Frequent Flyer: Mia Maestro, Musician-Actor

This Argentine beauty shares her airplane essentials, effortless travel style and the best things to do in Buenos Aires.

Mia-Maestro

You may recognize this Argentine beauty from her role as Nadia in the TV series Alias, or even her most recent work playing biochemist Nora in the vampire drama The Strain. But acting isn’t the only creative venture Mia Maestro keeps herself busy with. This singer-songwriter just released her first album “Si Agua” this past April, which blends together her Argentinian heritage with American and European culture. Admittedly always having a passion for singing, her favourite part about being a signer is performing. “I love playing live, every part of it. Rehearsing with my band and interacting with an audience,” says Mia.

Jetting back and forth between Toronto and L.A., as well as New York, this busy musician and actor has certainly had time to rack up those frequent flier miles. We get the scoop on how she stays comfortable, yet fashionable on the plane, the beauty product she can’t live without, and also get her to share her favourite places to go in her hometown of Buenos Aires.

Why are you always travelling? Work, personal, both?

I travel a lot for work. Lately I’ve been commuting a lot from Toronto, where I’m filming FX’s The Strain, to my home in L.A. and also to N.Y. I just returned from Vancouver where I attended the TED conference.
