Opening earlier this month is The Saguaro, Scottsdale, Arizona’s newest downtown hotel. Located where Old Town, the Arts district and Civic Center Mall meet, this bright and fresh addition comes from Joie de Vivre Hotels, known for their distinctly vibrant boutique hotels found only in California — until now.
The Saguaro’s style is influenced by contemporary architecture of Mexico and the Arizona desert — hence the bursts of primary colours throughout the property, the natural wood and leather furnishings and hand-crafted pieces from Mexico. All of the 194 guest rooms include outdoor patios or balconies, iPod docking station, work desk, flat screen TV and free Internet for Joy of Life members, while you’ll find soaker tubs and walk-in closets in the suites.
If you’re here for relaxation that’s good because they want you to chill out. There are two heated pools ringed with neon yellow cabanas, where you can read a book or sip on margaritas at the poolside bar. The hotel also features a fitness centre and full-service spa to help you get fully recharged.
Hungry? Luckily there is a delicious modern Mexican restaurant Distrito at your disposal run by Chef Jose Garce. There’s an outdoor smoke pit where meats are slow-cooked, 100 varieties of tequila and plenty of cocktails to enjoy during happy hour. Sounds like a vacation to us.
