The Vibe: Modern, yet playful, The OPUS feels more like crashing at your swanky friend’s totally chic Vancouver apartment than at a hotel. Located in the heart of fashionable Yaletown, this boutique hotel is only a short walk from some of Vancouver’s best eating, drinking and shopping. The vibrant décor, central location, and intuitive concierge means you’ll feel more like a stylish local than a tourist during your Vancouver visit.

The Facts: Offering a total of 96 recently revamped guestrooms and suites in five lifestyle inspired décor palettes, this award-winning hotel prides itself on treating its guests like good friends. Each room comes stocked with an iPad 2 equipped with complimentary citywide Wi-Fi for on and off property use. A Samsung Galaxy S3 is also available for guests staying in Deluxe King rooms and suites. The hotel is home to the award-winning La Pentola, which serves up authentic Italian and the OPUS bar. While there’s no spa on site, treatments can be arranged in-room or at an affiliate spa. It’s also pet friendly.

The Experience: A speedy check-in, an incredibly knowledgeable concierge and a glass of chilled white wine certainly made our welcome at The OPUS a pleasant one. While we loved the bright, streamlined décor in the lobby, the front desk area is quite intimate, which can be a challenge when multiple guests are checking in. We stayed in a Deluxe King room painted in a hue of bright hermes orange. The bold colour took a minute to get used to, but we loved the big soft king sized bed and deep soaker Jacuzzi tub, both of which made adjusting to Pacific time a little easier. The in-room iPad came fully stocked with a themed playlist, based on each room’s themed décor. The swanky jazz tunes on ours provided the perfect ‘getting ready’ soundtrack. The room is also filled with artwork from local Vancouver artists, a unique touch we really liked.  After a day of shopping, we thought the old school PEZ candy dispenser left on our bed during turn down service was an adorable, retro touch. Also, The OPUS is only steps away from Vancouver’s inner harbor seawall, which made it the perfect starting point for an early morning jog.

Room to book: If you’re travelling alone or with a romantic partner, we recommend the Deluxe King room. It’s spacious, bright and modern with everything you need.

Insider Tip: Ride in style with The OPUS’s luxury car service. Guests can arrange for a driver to take them from the OPUS to any downtown Vancouver location in the hotel’s seriously sweet white Jaguar.

Price: $$$

How to get there: A cab from the Vancouver International Airport takes about 20 minutes. You can also take the SKYTRAIN straight from the Vancouver International Airport to the CANADA LINE – WATERFRONT stop, located directly across the street from The Opus Hotel. It takes about 25 minutes.
