Earlier this week we were invited to the opening of Joe Fresh’s first Ottawa-based stand-alone store at the St. Laurent Centre. We of course, said yes right away (we never say no to a shopping trip). We are both huge fans of Joe Fresh, and frequently incorporate Joe pieces into our wardrobes on a regular basis (they always have key pieces ideal for travelling). Besides having AH-MAZING prices, the quality is fantastic and there is always a good mix of trend and basics to find in store at any given time.
To get to the opening on time, we hopped aboard a Porter flight and in less than an hour had arrived in Canada’s capital. Since we both live in the city, Porter is one of our favourite ways to travel, not only because it’s super convenient, but the service and little extras leave us feeling oh-so happy! Glass of wine en route? Yes, please!
While the new 10,000 square-foot store didn’t officially open to the public until Wednesday, we were treated to a sneak-peek the night before along with other VIP guests. Serving up canapés and cocktails, invitees could shop until their heart’s content – the 20% discount didn’t hurt either. In between balancing a glass of wine and a handful of clothes, we both ended up with a cozy sweater ($39) and a pair of graphic shorts ($29). Both are items we definitely know we’ll get amazing use out of. A cozy sweater is a must for plane rides and chilly summer nights, while the shorts are easy to dress up or down.
If you haven’t popped into a Joe store to check out their spring collection, we highly suggest you do! From silk blouses in rainbow hues ranging from pastels to brights ($39), coloured jeans ($19) and suede pumps ($69), you literally cannot find prices and quality like this anywhere else. Plus you’ll also find a huge selection of beauty products (like nail polishes and lip glosses) and jewellery.
The jaunt was literally the shortest trip we have ever taken, but it also happened to be the easiest (high five to no luggage!). We hung out Ottawa’s Porter lounge (our first visit) before we waited for our flight to board, snacking on shortbread cookies and Tazo tea, and planning how we’d wear our new purchases. Back in the city before we knew it, our next thought was – where are we going to go next? We’re thinking a quick trip to NYC for some more shopping might be in order.
FYI: Beginning this spring Porter will be flying to Ottawa 18X a day!
