Trend to Try: Wedge Sneakers

Fashion-forward and comfortable, these shoes are a stylish off-duty choice.

When it comes to travel, there’s nothing like wearing a pair of comfortable shoes. You could throw on a pair of ballet flats, or even smoking slippers, or you could try the hottest thing to happen to sneakers, since, well ever. Officially re-invented by Isabel Marant, her crush-worthy shoe has ignited an endless stream of imitations, which depending on your budget, isn’t a bad thing.

Unlike your basic pair of kicks, these wedge sneakers have a definite cool factor to them. We’ve spotted them on celebrities from Miranda Kerr and Jessica Alba, to Gisele Bundchen and Kate Bosworth, who have been wearing them off-duty everywhere — from airports to errand runs. Fashion-forward and comfortable? We must be dreaming.

Leave it to the King of Cool to put his spin on the wedge sneaker trend. We love the iridescent trim and Velcro strap, which is a unique combo of space-age meets primary school.

7. Giuseppe Zanotti RDS304, $895, zappos.com
Another splurge-worthy pair of wedge sneakers, we love the metallic dominating the shoe. From the metal plate at the heel to the zipper accents, it’s really all about the details.

Skip the laces with this pair of sporty kicks. If you’re not one for upkeep, we suggest a going for black. While the Velcro straps may make you feel junior, just think of how fast you’ll fly through airport security.
