There aren’t too many celebrity collaborations that have really sparked my interest — until I heard about OPI by Gwen Stefani. Gwen’s always been about accessorizing her style — like her signature red lips, platinum blond hair and nail art, so talk about a perfect fit.
Inspired by the 2013 Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Gala, “Punk: Chaos to Couture,” OPI Executive VP and Artistic Director Suzi Weiss-Fischmann decided to create a collection celebrating the role music has on fashion — enter Gwen.
The stand-out shade in the collection has to be “Over & Over A-Gwen” a classic red no doubt inspired by Gwen’s go-to lip colour. This particular shade comes in a box set with Swarovski black crystals and metallic studs, for creating your own nail art, and retails for $19. Our pick for wearing on a tropical getaway is the bold fuchsia hue — “Hey Baby” ($11) — a creamy gloss finish that has just the right amount of punch for peeking out under the sand (and is one of the hue’s Gwen’s donning above).
The entire collection includes seven limited-edition nail polishes including a bold chrome hue “Push and Shove” that has a mirror-like finish and “Love.Angel.Music.Baby,” a shimmery gold that has a semi-matte satin finish and doesn’t require a top coat. Whether you’re looking for a sparkling shade for your next vacation or a slick finish at home, this is a collection worth trying.
Available at professional salons and spas across Canada now.
