It’s the year we are all getting more in touch with America’s beautiful nature, but let’s say camping is NOT your thing… these glamping and luxury camping options across the state of Michigan will make you feel like you’re in the great outdoors, minus the ‘roughing’ it
Glamping in Michigan: Stay On a Blueberry Farm
The Fields of Michigan is one of the coolest, newest glamping options in the state. It’s only been open for about a year, but it has become one of the most popular places you can stay. It’s located on a blueberry farm in South Haven, so you’re looking at roughly a 3 hour drive from Detroit. But that drive is worth it to stay in this luxury tent with a bathroom, wood burning stove, king sized beds. You don’t have to worry about meals because a chef prepares them for you, they also have yoga, campfires, and freshly baked pies. Plus if you want to venture out there are tons of trails to hike, and of course, blueberry picking.
Glamping in Michigan: Book Yourself a Yurt
Wild Cherry Resort in the Leelanau Peninsula has something for everyone. With spaces for RVs and campers (so if you’re into luxury in an RV you can park here), cabins and tents, but they also have these beautiful little yurts. They come with a queen sized bed, you can order in wine, cheese and fruit to snack on (so no need to be cooking a campsite meal) and you can even have flowers delivered. One of the best parts is how close you are to the Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail for daytime exploring. Plus kayaking, fishing and more outdoor fun – or just relaxing in the yurt all day.
Glamping in Michigan: An All-Inclusive Glamping Experience
Paddler’s Village is another great spot for those looking for options. You can choose from tiny cabins to safari tents to yurts, all located on Lake Superior in the Upper Peninsula. So if you’re also a fan of kayaking along the Pictured Rocks this is for you. These are not super high-end, but they cover all the bases (yurts also come with a cool skylight) and it means you don’t have to worry about a thing. Plus you can book an all-inclusive package that includes paddling to Grand Island, dinners, breakfasts and more at Uncle Ducky Outdoors/Paddlers Village. There’s even a skylight dome from which you may catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights.
Glamping in Michigan: Get a Little More Remote
Beaver Island Retreat is a little bit trickier to get to (if you drive you will need to take a ferry, or you can fly to Traverse City and they will pick you up there). Located on Beaver Island in northern Lake Michigan off the coast of Charlevoix, this retreat has 10 safari-style tents that are chic and super comfortable and come with a private portico. Being in this remote part of the State, you’re going to feel like you’re truly camping, you just have a few extra luxuries like hot, private showers, bug-free tents and queen sized beds.
