Chances are when you’re planning your next vacation or trip, you’re using Google to do most of your searching, right? It’s the go-to for pretty much anything online and that makes it the first stop for most Canadians when it comes to building their vacation plans.
And today, Google announced that they are taking your travel planning to the next level with their mobile-only app. Google found that Canadians are spending more and more of their time searching for travel on their mobile devices. While in line at Starbucks, in a very long meeting, or waiting at an airport, Canadians are attached to their phones.
With keeping that in mind, Google’s mobile-only app is like having all your possible travel ideas in one spot. You can get inspired, search and plan your entire trip, right from your phone.
Here’s how it works: Just search using Google on your mobile phone for your destination (i.e. continent, country or state you’d like to travel to) and add the word “destination” to your search to see your new travel options. What pops up will be your destination search along with Google Flights and Hotel search – that means you’ll be able to see available flight and hotel prices instantly without even clicking anywhere else. No more jumping between tabs, windows and sites to find the best deals and options – you just have to scroll.
It’s not just flights and hotels that get you planning. Narrowing down your search to items such as “surfing in Costa Rica” or “best places for hiking” can help you go from inspirational searching to research and actual planning. The ability to search through flexible dates can help you focus in on the best prices for flights and hotels, the best seasons/weather, when high and low seasons are, and even crowded times so you can make sure you’re getting the most out of your visit. You can also toggle through tabs to find travel guides written by Google travel bloggers, create your own travel itinerary based on what real people search for when planning a trip, right up to finally actually booking your flights, hotels and excursions. And you can do it all in one environment that you never need to leave.
By the end you can have anything from a rough guide or outline of where and when you will take your next trip to a fully committed booking that has you hopping on plane and going.
