The Vibe: Like much of Bermuda, the Newstead is posh, luxe and a total quiet, island retreat.

The Facts: Studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom suites are all the opposite of Caribbean when it comes to décor. You’ll feel more like you’re in a swanky New York suite than an island thanks to a super contemporary feel. You also get a complimentary at the hotel’s nearby 18-hole golf course (or you can pass that on to your man).

The Details: There may not be a beach in the equation at the Newstead Belmont Hills, but we going to bet that you won’t miss it. It’s easy to automatically book a hotel and a room with a beach view, but why not take advantage of a scenic Hamilton Harbour view in Bermuda? Especially when you can sleep and rest in suites ranging from 450-2,500 square feet (ideal for a girlfriend getaway). Wake up in the morning and sip coffee from your suite balcony while watching yachts and sail boats in the harbor and be sure to take a dip in the huge infinity pool before heading out for a day of exploring. Getting into the chic town of Hamilton is easy thanks to a private ferry service from the hotel to the ferry dock in the town (runs weekdays from 7:20 to 11 a.m., and from 5:20 to 7:20 p.m.; on Saturdays it runs from 9:20 a.m. to 12:20 p.m.). Spend an afternoon shopping, sitting on patios cheers-ing with frosty Rum Swizzle cocktails, or an evening at one of Bermuda’s best restaurants.

The Spa: On a relaxing couples vacation? Book in a couples escape at the Newstead Spa (test out the couples Swedish massage), and take advantage of being in the middle of the ocean with a Phyto-Marine body wrap (think seaweed and minerals to help smooth and tighten skin).

The Restaurant: When Condé Nast names your restaurant as one of the 100 best in the world, you know you’re at a true winner. Blu at Belmont Hill’s seasonally changing menu captures steak and seafood at its best, but our absolute favourite? The daily Sushi Happy Hour which you can never go wrong with.

Tip: This is a wedding hotspot (who could blame anyone with stunning sunset harbor views). It can be a bit noisy and busy during the ceremony and reception, but that is also the ideal time to book a table at a restaurant in Hamilton for the evening.
